Surrey Sensors May 2021

Before the pandemic 1500 people were newly diagnosed with lung disease every day in the UK, COVID-19 has made this worse and “Long COVID” is becoming commonplace in clinics globally with COVID-19 causing adverse changes to the lungs. Rob Yates is working with Surrey Sensors Ltd to raise funding and make a small, portable, low-cost, multi-function device for lung function testing that helps to diagnose and monitor unusual lung conditions including Long Covid, COPD and Asthma. The aim of this project is gain funding to develop a solid state spirometer with fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) capability. The global FeNO testing market is highly competitive due to the presence of the large number of players and innovative product offerings though no one offers both Spirometry and FeNO
testing in one device allowing both clinical use and home monitoring. Once developed, Surrey Sensors will mass produce a new, portable device that measures lung function to greater precision than is achieved today.
